Defining your target market

It's a common mistake in marketing and networking to try and be all things to all people - this inevitably doesn't work. Primarily because, if you are looking for referrals, people need something specific to focus on - they don't think of anyone.

Your marketing is easier if you know who your target audience is - as you can speak to them directly offering something relevant to them; specific to their needs. 

The fear is that you feel you are missing out by narrowing down your potential client base but there are numerous examples of networkers who, within the same group they have been networking with for months, get referrals once they are clearer on their ideal client.

I enjoyed my first meeting at The Business Community. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Anyone new to networking would feel comfortable from the outset.
